  • 1 lime wedge
  • ¼ tsp Tajín seasoning (or a mix of sea salt and chili powder on a small plate)
  • 1 1 small watermelon wedge for garhish
  • 1 cherry stem attached

For the Cocktail

  • 4 pitted sweet northern cherries pitted
  • A few chunks of fresh seedless watermelon
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice approx. the juice of 1 lime
  • 1 oz Cointreau or other orange liqueur
  • 2 oz tequila
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Glass

  • The best way to start this classic drink is by getting your glassware ready. Rub a fresh lime wedge around the rim of the glass. Dip the top of the glass into Tajín or sea salt on a small plate until it's perfectly coated. Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice cubes and set it aside.

Step 2: Muddle the Fruit

  • In the bottom of a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, combine your pitted cherries and watermelon chunks. Use a muddler to smash them down thoroughly, releasing that beautiful, vibrant fresh watermelon and cherry juice.

Step 3: Shake It Up

  • Once the fruit is well-smashed, pass the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into your cocktail shaker to ensure a perfectly smooth texture. Add the fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and tequila. Fill the shaker with a generous handful of ice cubes , pop the lid on, and shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds until frosty.

Step 4: Strain and Serve

  • Strain the cocktail into your prepared, Tajín-rimmed glass over the fresh ice. Garnish the rim with a small watermelon wedge, lime wedge and a fresh cherry, and enjoy immediately!
